Since 2021, the pseudonymous blockchain detective ZachXBT has built an unparalleled reputation for his relentless pursuit of cryptocurrency thieves and scammers. This detective typically offers his services for free, becoming a crypto champion for the people. Perhaps because he himself is a victim of crypto fraud, ZachXBT deeply understands the feeling of being scammed.
After discovering that there were no remedies for being scammed, he decided to leverage the transparency of blockchain and his unique pattern recognition skills to expose Ponzi schemes, pump-and-dump schemes, and "rug pulls."
On August 19, while waiting for a flight, ZachXBT casually monitored the blockchain ledger and noticed preliminary signs of what would become the largest cryptocurrency theft in history: a $600,000 Bitcoin transaction. This transaction was unusually large, ignoring hefty penalties that no serious investor would accept. ZachXBT tracked subsequent larger transactions through a series of fake fronts until he was able to identify the victims and the thieves—wealth amounting to $243 million—by the time his plane landed.
