The US spot Bitcoin ETF faces a significant outflow of $340 million

By Mini MaNewcomer0 rep· 12/25/2024

The US spot Bitcoin ETF has experienced continuous outflows over the past four days, with a total outflow amounting to $340 million. This trend has attracted widespread attention in the market, especially after 15 days of inflows, indicating a significant shift in investor sentiment.

Key Points

  • The US spot Bitcoin ETF recorded a net outflow of $338.4 million on Tuesday.

  • This marks the fourth consecutive day of net outflows for US spot Bitcoin funds.

  • Over the past four days, the total net outflow from these funds has reached $1.52 billion.

  • BlackRock's IBIT fund saw the largest outflow, approximately $188.7 million.

  • Only Bitwise's BITB fund achieved a net inflow on the day, amounting to $850,000.

On Tuesday, the total trading volume of the 12 US spot Bitcoin ETFs reached $2.16 billion, with a cumulative net inflow of $35.5 billion. In stark contrast, spot Ethereum ETFs achieved a net inflow of $53.5 million on the same day, indicating strong market interest in Ethereum.

Outflow Trend

According to SoSoValue data, the outflow situation over the past four days is as follows:

Date

Net Outflow Amount (USD)

December 22

120 million

December 23

150 million

December 24

130 million

December 25

338.4 million

During this period, BlackRock's IBIT fund saw the largest outflow, reaching $188.7 million, followed by Fidelity's FBTC with an outflow of $83 million. Ark and 21Shares' ARKB fund also saw outflows of $75 million each.

Market Reaction

Market analysts point out that this outflow trend may be related to investor concerns about market volatility. Despite attracting over $6.7 billion in inflows in the 15 days prior to December 18, the current outflow situation has left many investors uneasy.

Nate Geraci, president of ETF Store, stated on social media: "A year ago, there were no spot crypto ETFs in the market, and now this market has developed into a $135 billion category. More changes may occur by 2025."

Future Outlook

Despite the outflows faced by spot Bitcoin ETFs, the performance of Ethereum ETFs demonstrates market diversity and different investor preferences. As more spot crypto ETFs enter the market, future market dynamics will be worth watching. Investors need to closely monitor market trends to make informed investment decisions.
